Barry has been playing the bagpipes for over fifteen years after taking his first instruction from legendary piper, composer and teacher, Robert McFie of the College of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland.  He has played as a soloist as well as a member of a pipe band and a Highland ensemble at many places throughout the United States as well as Ireland and Scotland.  In August of 2000, he participated in the Millennium Pipers Parade in Edinburgh, Scotland where he was joined by pipers and drummers from around the world as they marched before an audience of over 30,000.  In 2004, Barry and his wife Kathleen, a Scottish side drummer, led an ensemble of pipers, drummers, and dancers, The Caledonians, as they performed at theaters and at Scottish and folk festivals throughout Oregon for three years.  In August of 2007, The Caledonians traveled to Scotland where they attended the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Cowal Highland Gathering.  In the summer of 2008, Barry joined the cast of Brigadoon, presented by the Oregon Festival of American Music, for performances at the Hult Center in Eugene.  Barry was featured as, you guessed it, the Piper.   For further enjoyment Barry now travels to Maui several times a year and when "on island" he is pleased to perform with the Isle of Maui Pipe Band.  Bagpipes and palm trees, what a treat. Barry also plays with the Clan McLeay Pipe band of Portland, which is one of the oldest continually operating pipe bands in the country at nearly 100 years.

So please contact Barry as a soloist, or together with his wife Kathleen for a piping and drumming team, to make your special event very special indeed.

Barry now plays a set of Colin Kyo bagpipes made especially for him by the extraordinary bagpipe maker, Murray Huggins of Medford, Oregon
